These symptoms need
prompt treatment.
Severe toothache
Throbbing, persistent pain that over-the-counter painkillers do not control, especially with swelling or fever.
Swelling of the face or gum
Visible swelling can indicate an abscess. With fever, or with difficulty breathing or swallowing, act at once.
A knocked-out tooth
The first 30 minutes matter. Hold the tooth by the crown, never by the root, keep it in a tooth rescue box or in milk, and come straight away.
A broken tooth
After a fall or an accident, the fragment can often be reattached. Bring it with you if you find it.
Bleeding that will not stop
If bleeding continues after 30 minutes of firm pressure with a clean compress, please contact us.
A lost crown or filling
Rarely urgent, but the tooth is unprotected. Keep the piece and call us; we will find a time.

What helps
in the meantime.
Cool, do not warm
Cool the cheek from the outside. Do not apply heat to a swelling, and avoid very hot or very cold food and drink.
Rinse gently
Lukewarm water is enough. Avoid strong mouthwashes and alcohol on an open wound.
Painkillers
Take a painkiller you tolerate, following the package instructions. Never place a tablet directly on the gum, it can burn the tissue.
